ABOUT US

Australia’s home for Allbäck linseed oil

We have supplied Allbäck linseed oil paint, wax, soap and putty across Australia since 2017, from our warehouse in Artarmon.

Paint with nothing to hide

Allbäck has made linseed oil paint in Sweden since 1982, using methods Swedish builders have relied on since the sixteenth century. The paint is boiled, cold-pressed, cleaned and sterilised linseed oil with mineral pigment ground into it — titanium and iron oxides, chromium oxide green, ultramarine blue. That is the whole recipe.

There are no solvents in it, so there is nothing to evaporate: VOC content sits under 5 mg/L. It is 100% dry matter, which means what goes on the brush stays on the timber.

Nothing evaporates from the paint.

Same paint inside and out, every coat.

Trusted on buildings that have to last

Linseed oil paint is what heritage work calls for. It does not crack or peel, and it never traps the moisture that rots timber — when it dulls, you brush off the loose pigment and recoat. No stripping back to bare wood.

Through our sister company we have stripped and restored Balmain Library and Town Hall, the Argyle Stores in The Rocks, Sydenham and Petersham stations, Greenwich Public School and 343 George Street. Allbäck’s own reference list runs to Chateau de Versailles and Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen.
