Speed Strip from Sydney Paint Stripping effectively removes most paints and varnishes — fast acting, it removes multiple layers and will not stain timber.
What it is for
- Removes acrylic and oil-based paints and varnishes.
- Suitable for furniture, doors, skirtings, architraves, boats, cars and ironwork.
- Rejuvenates and softens old paint brushes.
How to use
- Preparation. Make sure the surface is clean and dry. Protect surrounding areas with a drop cloth or plastic sheet.
- Apply. Brush on a thick, generous coat of Speed Strip with a soft brush.
- Allow time to work. Leave for 15–45 minutes, depending on the number of paint layers and the coating type. Old or thick paint may need a second application.
- Remove the paint. Scrape off the blistered paint with a scraper. For stubborn or hard-to-reach areas, use a stiff brush or steel wool.
- Rinse and neutralise (recommended for timber). Rinse thoroughly with clean water. On timber, use a neutraliser so new coatings adhere properly and to prevent discolouration.
- Dry and refinish. Let the surface dry fully, then apply your choice of stain, paint or protective finish.
Helpful hints
- Not suitable for plastic, vinyl laminates, fibreglass or rubber.
- Does not remove kalsomine or penetrating stains.
- For best results, apply evenly and avoid direct sunlight.
